Toshiba satellite C675-S7106 uses dual core Intel i3-2350M processor, with 2.3GHz speed. The processor comes with 3MB of L3 cache. Performance wise, it is better than Intel Pentium B960 processor. We have discussed about these processors in an earlier posting (Intel Pentium B960 vs Intel core i3-2350M Processor ). It scores better over AMD A4-3305M processor as the latter is clocked at low frequency. Core i3-2350M is Hyper Threading Technology enabled, due to which each physical core seems to be two logical cores to the system. Multithreaded programs run efficiently on a system with dual core processor supporting Hyper Threading Technology, since the system appears to have 4 logical cores. Such systems offer better multi-tasking, as well. Intel core i3-2350M processor comes with Intel HD 3000 graphics that has support for DirectX 10. So you can play games such as starcraft 2, call of duty and modern warfare 3, at low details, with 20-25fps only. Modern titles like Battlefield 3 will hardly run on this laptop. Users can, however, watch HD videos on this laptop seamlessly. There is no HDMI output though.

The display of Toshiba C675-S7106 offers video resolution of 1600 *900 p which doesn’t support 1080p playback. Absence of an HDMI port and display limitation, rule out full HD experience from this laptop.

Toshiba satellite C675-S7106 offers 4 GB DDR3 memory and 500 GB hard drive. The memory is up gradable up to 8GB. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Operating System is preinstalled on the hard drive.

The laptop has generic built with black Trax textured finish.

Other available features include 2 USB 2.0 ports , VGA output, media card reader that’s capable of reading Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, SDXC, miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and MultiMediaCard formats.

For networking, this laptop offers fast Ethernet and wi-fi.

The company claims that the 6-cell lithium-ion battery pack can provide up to 5 hours of battery life.

Toshiba satellite C675-S7106 vs HP g7-1326dx

With a dual core processor, system appears to have 4 logical cores, which helps running multithreaded programs efficiently. It also helps running CPU intensive programs, simultaneously. The processor comes with 3MB of L3 cache. Core i5-2450M processor is comparable with quad core AMD A8-3520M processor. However, from gaming point of view, AMD A8-3520M processor takes the lead over Intel Core i5-2450M processor. On the other hand, media encoding is faster on Core i5-2450M.

Sony VAIO VPCEH3QFX/W comes with Integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics, which is DirectX 10 capable. HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr Review

HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr is a budget desktop replacement notebook. It is capable of delivering mid-level performance with AMD quad core A6-3400m CPU, 8GB memory and 750GB-5400RPM hard drive. The laptop is priced at around $600.  HP has integrated a number of impressive features in this model which include optical multimedia drive, which supports Blu-ray and can read/burn CD/DVD, and 2 USB 3.0 ports. However, absence of dedicated graphics does not allow much of gaming on it.

HP dv7-6b57nr has 1.4GHz AMD A6-3400M Accelerated processor at its core. The processor clock speed can boost up to 2.3 GHz though. This notebook is good for basic office tasks, web browsing, photo editing and video playback. Comparative analysis of AMD A6-3400 APU and Intel core i5-2450M processor shows that, in terms of processing power, the Intel processor completely dominates AMD A6-3400M APU, as the basic frequency of i5-2450M is much higher than A6-3400M.

When it comes to gaming experience, the integrated graphics of A6-3400M APU, AMD Radeon HD 6520G, is little better than Intel HD 3000 graphics, coming with Core i5 processor.  Also, AMD Radeon HD 6520G graphics is DirectX 11 capable. The graphics can use up to 4085MB total graphics memory. You can play games like Assassins Creed, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Crysis 2, Final Fantasy XIV in low to medium details. This notebook, however, would not be a good choice for running applications like AutoCAD, Revit, 3D MAX or other designing software. Even buying Pavilion dv7-6b57nr, for HD video creation, is not a good idea.

HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr ships with 8GB DDR3 memory, in two slots, and that is the maximum memory it can support.  The amount of installed memory ensures smooth multitasking. Its 750GB-5400RPM hard drive offers plenty of space to store movies and music. Hard drive comes preinstalled with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) operating system. Disk speed could be the limiting factor, while performing intensive tasks on the laptop.

17.3-inch HD+ BrightView LED backlit display supports 16:9 native resolution, which is common in a laptop of this size. User can enjoy HD videos on big display. You can also view laptop contents, via HDMI port, on your big screen HDTV or HD monitor.

Other significant features

2 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports

Gigabit Ethernet

802.11b/g/n WLAN

2 Headphone-out

1 mic in

2 –in-1 media card reader, supporting SD and MMC

Beats audio

HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated digital microphone

HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr uses nine-cell,100 whr battery which can offer up to 4 hours of battery life on single charge. It would have been disappointing for a 17.3 inches laptop to come with a six-cell battery pack.

Pros of HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr

Blu-ray,

17.3” display,

8 GB memory

750 GB HDD

Cons of HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr

Low hard drive speed and battery life
